Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Al Qadr: Journal of Qur’anic Science (AQS) undergo a rigorous evaluation process to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope. The review process applies a double-blind peer review system, meaning that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review period.
Initial Screening (Desk Review)
Every submitted manuscript is first assessed by the Editorial Team to ensure compliance with the journal’s writing guidelines, aims and scope, as well as to verify academic soundness and originality. Manuscripts failing to meet the required criteria may be returned to authors for revision or directly rejected. A plagiarism check using reliable software is conducted at this stage.
Peer Review Process
Manuscripts that pass the desk review are assigned to at least two reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The review process is conducted within four until eight weeks using the double-blind method. Reviewers are expected to assess the manuscript’s scholarly contribution, methodological rigor, clarity of argument, and use of relevant references.
Reviewer’s Recommendation
Each reviewer provides one of the following decisions:
- Accepted: The manuscript is ready for publication without revision.
- Accepted with Minor Revisions: Minor improvements are required before acceptance.
- Accepted with Major Revisions: Substantial revisions are needed, such as theoretical or analytical refinement.
- Rejected: The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards for publication.
Reviewer recommendations are evaluated by the Editorial Board to make the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection.
Revision Stage
Once the manuscript has been received with notations of minor or major revisions, it will returned to the author with a review summary form. Revisions must be accompanied by a response to reviewers document explaining how each comment has been addressed.
Final Evaluation and Proofreading
After revisions are approved, the manuscript undergoes final evaluation by the Board of Editors. The accepted manuscript is then subjected to professional proofreading to ensure linguistic quality and consistency.
Publication Confirmation
The final layout (galley proof) is sent to the corresponding author for final verification. Authors may correct typographical or formatting errors at this stage. Upon confirmation, the article proceeds to online publication and inclusion in the upcoming issue.
Ethical Compliance
Al Qadr strictly adheres to the ethical standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate submission will result in rejection or retraction following COPE guidelines.
